When I Fall, I Will Arise

For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again,
But the wicked stumble in time of disaster and collapse.

(Proverbs 24:16, AMP)

Do not rejoice over me, my enemy;
When I fall, I will arise
When I sit in darkness,
The Lord will be a light to me.

(Micah 7:8, NKJV)

Do the righteous fall? The answer is YES. The righteous may fall—and he may fall endless times in a single day—but what makes him righteous in the Lord’s all-knowing and merciful eyes is not that he never falls, but rather that after his fall, he rises again.

What a glorious paradox this is! What a mighty truth this is when one absorbs it into his heart and lives by it unto the Lord! Yes, my brethren, let us live unto the Lord in such a manner, with such a heart of living hope!

The truth is that the enemy of mankind, Satan, has built a grand and elaborate prison house with wide open entrance gates, that he may cunningly ensnare people of all kinds with such thoughts as hopelessness and anxiety over our falls and failures. He does this by prompting us with dark deceptive thoughts and beliefs, so that he may lure us into this prison house by our own will (on the level of our thoughts).

WE NEED TO KNOW OUR GOD.

Kind, merciful, compassionate, full of tender mercies, infinitely forgiving, limitlessly pardoning, full of hope—He is Love itself; indeed He is rightly called the Lover of Mankind.

His left hand is under my head,
And his right hand embraces me. . .
Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor can the floods drown it.

(Song of Solomon 8:3, 7)

O beloved Lover of Mankind, how can I thank You for such a constant and reliable stream of love that fills me and inebriates me with such a sweet and strong adoration of You?! Your eyes are ceaselessly upon me, watching my going and coming, my visible and invisible movements, my thoughts and the deepest depths of my innermost being. You know me far better and far deeper than I can ever even know myself, for You formed me and You fashioned my substance with Your divine, eternal hands. There is no part of me, good or bad, that is hidden from You. And yet, despite my falls and failures, Your gaze upon me is unceasingly with favor. Though I may fall or sit in darkness, yet even in the midst of it You are a light for me. There is no darkness or deception that the enemy can imprison me with, so long as I remain in Your light.

Thank You, tender Master and Lord!
